From January 26 to February 25 you can visit the exhibition at the Nicolás Cortés gallery
The Nicolás Cortés gallery, in collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria, organizes an exhibition at its Madrid headquarters (Calle Justiniano, 3) that will run from January 26 to February 25, 2021. Tickets can be reserved on the official website of the gallery, due to the existing limitations by the Covid-19.
A journey has been proposed that allows us to analyze the evolution of portraiture and fashion from the 15th to the 20th centuries. The tado-medieval portrait is magnificently represented by an extraordinary panel by the Master of A.E. where donors are displayed.
Special mention deserves the invaluable contribution to the show by the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda and Alta Saroria atelier in Milan, who have submitted five spectacular designs. With these, a dialogue has been established between fashion and painting, which leads us to reflect on the evolution of traditional clothing throughout history, up to its current reinterpretation by large firms.
This exhibition is made up of several thematic sections: the role of fashion, portraiture and power, and the ages of the individual.
In this section, a comparison has been made based on the same fashion accessory: the ruff of lechuguilla. This is present in the portrait of Van der Hamen, as well as in the reinterpretation made by Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria in his exceptional cape, embroidered in turn with the unmistakable still life of Caravaggio.
